Great question, and there are a few answers. From start to finish the tour is 7km but deadlines are no fun, so you’ve got the ability to spread the tour out over as many hours or days as you want. Just use the app’s handy “pause” button to take a break. Come back to where you left off – whenever you want. Like an old friend, the app will remember you as long as you don't delete the app from your phone.

You choose who to bring on this tour, which means you're in control of who you come into contact with. Most of your activity is outside, and all pubs have outdoor seating. Inside, each pub has taken careful steps to ensure your safety, and meet or exceed provincial health guidelines.

There is indeed a tour guide - YOU! Don’t feel qualified for that? Don’t worry, the app will lay everything out for you, including directions and a GPS-assisted map. The tour can be taken alone, or with any number of friends or family. You’ll never be thrown together with people that grind your gears (we’ve all been there).

Our advice is to take the tour Tuesday to Saturday after 1:00pm or Monday after 3:30pm. On Sunday one of our partner pubs is closed: you are welcome to take the tour after 3:30pm, however the third pub will not be open and therefore you will only receive four samples. Take your time, soaking up the sights along the way and the atmosphere at each pub. The only things you’ll want to keep in mind are the opening hours of the pubs and how comfortable you are walking around the city at night.

Rest assured you’ll be guided to many of the city’s hidden treasures, as well as its more famous sights.

We did a lot of research (read: drank a lot of beer – you’re welcome!) to find the best local beer spots in the city. Part of the fun of this tour is that they reveal themselves to you (no, not like that) as you complete the tour.

While we love teachers, no one wants to feel like they’re sitting an exam when they’re trying to enjoy themselves. The tour’s multiple-choice questions are fun, accessible and family friendly, and facts range from quirky to enlightening.

Apart from launching the tour (which you can do from a wi-fi location such as your hotel or a coffee shop), the GPS works offline so there’s no nasty roaming charges, unless you try to Google the answers to the questions!
